Love You More | DigiMorph

LoveYouMore-digimorph

image linked for credits

I created this page for a Digi Morph at Pixels & Company. What is a Digi Morph? It’s a fun scraplift game where each participant is given an inspiration page, scraplifts it, then sends their page on to the next person in line to scraplift and create her own page. The individual pages are only shared with the entire group at the end for a big reveal. It’s fun to anticipate the big reveal and to see how the pages morph throughout the process! Head over to the Pixels & Company blog to find out more about the Digi Morph and see the transformation of each of the three groups.

The current Digi Morph is nearing completion, but you can keep an eye out for future sign ups if you’d like to participate. Here’s a sneak peek of the layout I created.

Hello, August!

I can’t believe that summer has flown by so quickly! In a few short weeks, school will be back in session and we’ll have to get back into a routine. Time to check in on that summer bucket list and get some items checked off.

I’ve got some exciting news to share today! I’ve been asked to join the amazing ladies of write.click.scrapbook. I’m thrilled to be a part of such an amazing site that provides so much inspiration and is a great resource for storytelling, photography and creating meaningful and beautiful scrapbooks.

Lost Tooth

Sat. Nov. 26: The boy woke up this morning & had lost his loose tooth – before his permanent tooth even starting coming through (a first for his bottom teeth). He was very excited.

DSCF8715web

He cleaned the tooth (since apparently you get more money from the Tooth Fairy for a clean tooth) and put it in a zip-lock baggie. He also wrote a note for the Tooth Fairy to include with his tooth.

It was a rainy day today – perfect for putting up more of our indoor Christmas decorations, taking it easy (I’m still fighting this cold) and watching Christmas movies. The boy has discovered the Peanuts movies and really enjoys them. :)

3-Day Weekend, Layouts and a Giveaway

Gotta love long weekends! I was off work Friday for Veterans Day and spent 11.11.11 on a scrapbooking playdate at my friend Jocelyn’s house (along with Charlene and Missy).
11-11-11web
I got a few digi layouts done and spent some quality time pondering my Christmas journal for this year (and thinking that I really need to finish the one from last year!). I also got to eat one of my favorites – the Oops Roll from Love Sushi. YUM.
It’s been a while since I’ve shared some LOs, so here goes! All are linked for credits.

And finally, I wanted to thank everyone who stopped by during the blog hop last weekend (and hopefully some new followers!). I’ve got a $5 gift certificate to Design House Digital up for grabs for a random commenter to this post. Just comment on how you spent your day on 11.11.11 for your chance to win! I’ll be back in a few days to pick a winner!

[inter]National Scrapbook Day Freebie

It’s finally here! The day scrapbookers all over the world wait all year for - [inter]National Scrapbooking Day! OK, maybe that’s a bit of a stretch, but it’s a fun day of scrapping, shopping, chatting, and of course, blog hopping! I, along with the other Design House Decorators, have some goodies just for you in our very own blog hop. I’m honored to be a part of this group of super-talented, super-friendly, super-helpful group of ladies who comprise the creative team at Design House Digital.

For this blog hop, the Decorators have made a quick page (both 12x12 and 8.5x11) from the DHD Designers' iNSD collab kit. Simply hop around to all 12 of the blogs, collect all of the Quick Pages along the way, and you'll have 15 fabulous pages! (a couple of stops are 2-for-1 deals!) Use them to create your own album all on their own or add along with your own pages using the freebie kit.

Here's my contribution:

Happy Easter!

I hope your having a blessed day with your family! We’re just chilling out at home on this cloudy, rainy day.

PeterFoilTail

I wanted to share this LO today. The story behind it practically melted my heart and almost brought me to happy tears! DS was just beaming, he was so excited to give this basket to DH. He just couldn’t stop smiling, and neither could we. DH & I just kept giving each other that knowing look of “how sweet is this kid” and “how lucky are we?” He came up with all of it on his own, and only needed my help to take the photo and print it. He’s a sweetie, and so creative! I need to take a close-up pic of the basket, but DH took it to work and forgot it there.

Now, off to raid the Easter candy!

Happy Scrapping!

Crop Night!

Yay! The third Friday of the month – that means it’s crop night! I love getting together with my scrappy friends to chat, eat and maybe scrap a little. Ha! It’s certainly my Happy Place!

MyHappyPlaceCB

The design and color scheme of my layout was inspired by one of my favorite sweater/tank combos. It’s amazing the inspiration that can come from your closet (or a fashion magazine)!

5_MyHappyPlaceInspCB

The black and hot pink color scheme, the zigzag edges and the tie closure (ribbon) all found their way onto my LO. :)

Learn Something New Every Day

Starting September 1st, I am participating in Shimelle’s Learn Something New Every Day class where I’ll focus on learning
something new from my life for every day in September. With the kiddos off to school to start learning new things, what better time than now to document my continual journey of learning! I’m hopeful I’ll keep up with daily entries and eventually get them all scrapped!

What have you learned today?

Hi!

If you’ve found your way to my blog from the Scrapbook News and Review newsletter, welcome! I’m so excited to be featured in this week’s newsletter! I joined the SNR team over a year and a half ago and am now an Assistant Editor and Digital Team Coordinator. I’m constantly inspired by the amazing talent of the SNR team and readers and am blown away by the knowledge shared in the SNR Forum.

HiCard

Although I’m primarily a digital scrapbooker now, I still dabble with my traditional supplies (especially since I have SO MUCH of it!). Lately, I have been branching into the hybrid world. I’d like to share a recent hybrid card with you! I used Carina Gardner’s Back to Basics Collection and Deena Rutter’s Pendant Banners Digital Cutting Files, both from Design House Digital.

Additional supplies: scissors, glue, border punch, edge distresser, distressing ink, twine, alpha stickers or stamps for card sentiment.

DSCF3894

Step One: Use the pendant banner cutting files as clipping masks for various papers in Photoshop. Print papers for card components and clipped banners. I clip all of my papers to my desired size before printing to save on ink.

DSCF3898

Step Two: Cut out all printed items.

DSCF3900

Step Three: Distress or ink edges of papers, as desired.

DSCF3911

Step Four: Fold pennants in half matching up ends, thread over twine and glue wrong sides of pennants together to form banner/bunting.

DSCF3910

Step Five: You’re now ready to assemble the front of the card!

DSCF3915

Step Six: Layer paper pieces on brown card front.

DSCF3916

Step Seven: Tie ends of bunting in knots and trim. Place liquid glue under knots and the pennants on each end to secure bunting to card.

DSCF3917

Step Eight: Add sentiment using letter stickers or stamps (I used Thickers). Attach card front to folded card base.

HiCard

That’s it! I hope you’ll share some of your hybrid cards by linking up in the comments for this post!

If you want to see more inspiration and fantastic tutorials and articles, check out the brand spankin’ new issue of Scrapbook News and Review Magazine, debuting tonight! Here’s a sneak peek of a few of my projects that will be in the issue:

New Eyes!

Monday I had LASIK eye surgery on both of my eyes. The surgery went by very quickly, and now I can SEE without glasses or contacts! It’s very exciting and I’m thrilled with the results! You know I’ll be making a scrapbook page about this one!

I Love Christmas Lights

Christmas Journal entry.
Friday, Dec. 4, Lights: I’ve always loved driving around to look at Christmas lights. The more lights and decorations, the better! This year, I found a new favorite home that has tons of decorations, but is still tastefully done – a hard combo to achieve!
100_7965
This came out a bit blurry. I’ll have to go back & get a better photo!

So Much To Do!

Christmas Journal entry.

Thursday, Dec. 3, So Much To Do: Now that we’re counting down the days until Christmas, I’ve realized I have quite a lot to do! I’m going to take a day off of work to be able to make a dent in the list, esp. the shopping for gifts!

  • Make penguin costume for play
  • Make a list of presents to buy
  • Buy presents (a biggie!)
  • Wrap presents
  • Clean the house after decorating
  • Make cards
  • Take Collin to see Santa & get picture
  • Make hand-made gifts
  • Make Christmas cookies
  • Scrapbook when I can!

Winter Weather

Christmas Journal entry.

Wed., Dec. 2, Weather: The weather was unseasonably warm over the weekend, but now has dropped below freezing, with a chance of snow! A few flurries fell, but it mostly was a cold mist all afternoon and evening. It seems December always announces its arrival with a change in the weather.

Counting Down

Christmas Journal entry.
Tuesday, Dec. 1, Counting Down: December has arrived! Time to count down to the big day. The boy is excited about moving the candy cane on his countdown calendar and opening the doors on his advent calendar. We also have a countdown with the number blocks. The boy filled the advent calendar up with candy himself and set it on the cedar chest. Now, he’ll open a door each day of the month until Christmas.
